Size Acceptance I am a fat person. Fat. fatfatfat. Nya nya. See, I can say it and it doesn't bother me. My body simply stores a lot of fat. I am not obese--that term suggests disease, and being fat is NOT a disease. I am genetically predisposed to carry around more adipose tissue than someone who...well, isn't (having Fibromyalgia and depression and having to take a bunch of drugs that can cause weight gain has contributed significantly to my adipose collection as well, in the last several years.). I have always struggled with my self image and self esteem, ever since I was a child, mostly because the message I have always gotten is that it is NOT okay to be fat. Well, I have learned in my adult years that this is the BIG FAT LIE. If I am ever blessed with children, and if my children also are blessed with my fat genes, I will raise them in an atmosphere of fat acceptance. They will grow up appreciating themselves for who they are, not what they look like--and maybe with a healthy dose of liking how they look. I am now trying to ingrain these positive thoughts into my own self-talk routine, so that I can believe what I'm teaching. It hasn't been easy. I still struggle. I bet I'm not the only one.
These are awards and seals which I am proud to display on my pages. Click on each one to link to these wonderful size acceptance sites (unfortunately, BBW Today doesn't seem to exist any longer. But I'm still proud as ever of my award from them!)!
